Wonderful dinner

We had been wanting to try a neighborhood bistro, Le Morgane. We had seen this one about a block from our apartment, and it was recommended by our landlady, Andie. We read somewhere that the chef owned bistros are the best--and that was right on with this one. We got there a little after 8pm and were seated immediately. The hostess was polite and courteous, but only spoke French. She said she would send the chef to explain the menu to us. He appeared out of the kitchen, speaking excellent English. He told us he had lived in Sun Valley, Idaho and had worked as a chef at the ski resort for 6 years. (That's where he met his Brazilian wife). He recommended we start with foie gras with apricot chutney--delicious! Tom choose lamb shank with mashed potatoes and I had sea bass with lentils. It was all so good. The chef and the hostess kept coming by to make sure everything was ok. We even struck up a conversation with some people at the next table, they are regulars. We asked if she would take a picture of us with the chef. For dessert, Tom had the house specially of Baba rum--a sponge cake served with cream and a bottle of rum. You decide how much you want to pour over your dessert. I had the molten chocolate cake and ice cream. What a wonderful evening we had! We know we'll go back again.
