A Day in Bandon

Tom and I had eaten breakfast at Indian Creek Cafe a couple of times before our company got here and really enjoyed it, so we thought it might be fun to take our friends there.

The portions are generous so we knew we would be fortified for the day.

Pat had been reading up on Bandon, a lovely little town just about 56 miles north of Gold Beach.  We decided to take another road trip up the scenic Oregon coast highway and check it out.

The Oregon coast is one picture postcard after another.

On the way north it was sunny and warm in Port Orford.

We were welcomed to Bandon by a sign outlining the history of the town.

Old Town in Bandon looked like just the place to shop and look.

Tom and I had been to the Cranberry Sweets Shop in Coos Bay but the original store is in Bandon.

My first stop!  Lots of candy and goodies, but the best thing in there was a mirror that made you look very skinny!

I want one of those at home!
We enjoyed walking around the town and doing a little shopping.  There were numerous seafood restaurants and souvenir shops along the bay front in Old Town.  We wore ourselves out checking out all the places to spend our money.

Our friends Angelo and Marissol from Torino, Italy were supposed to join us this week in Gold Beach, but the COVID virus made it impossible for them to get into the US and impossible to get back out and home.  When we saw this Italian Restaurant we had to take a group picture to send to them.

On the way back to Gold Beach, we made several stops to see more of the magnificent Oregon coast line.

At Face Rock Wayside the view was incredible but it was foggy, windy and cold.

Cape Blanco is the farthest point west in the continental US.  It sticks out into the Pacific Ocean and it has a light house on it.

We turned west off the highway to go out on the Cape to see it but after a couple of miles the road was blocked and a sign said it was closed to the public.

So, back on the road to Gold Beach and home with a couple more scenic viewpoint stops for pictures.

Our last dinner with our friends was at Spinners restaurant on Main Street .

The food was delicious, but the company was better!

We loved having Pat and Kay and Don and Vivian here with us.  Tomorrow they return home and we prepare to welcome Tom’s two brothers and their wives for a week.
