Trier, Germany

We are shocked and sadden about the tragedy in Dallas.  We pray for the men and women in blue and are grateful for their service to our community.

After a three and a half hour drive thru the Belgian and German countryside we arrived in Trier (pronounced tree-air). There has been so much rain this spring and early summer, everything is super green.  The grazing cows are happy.

We got here early, so we took time for a little lunch.  A little pizza and beer at an outside restaurant.

At 2:30 we met up with Hans, who showed us the apartment.  We've gone from the 17th century to the 21st century.  This one's ultra modern and very comfortable.

We have lots of room with two bedrooms

large living area

fully equipped kitchen with stove, cooktop, microwave and dishwasher

and a very nice bathroom with a washer/dryer.

Tonight is the beginning of a weekend long Mosel festival.

Trier is built on the Moselle river.  Our apartment is downtown and within walking distance of the river and the festival, so we thought we would check it out.
People were beginning to gather as we arrived a little after 7.

There was food and beer!

Fish and beer!

Sauages and beer!

Pretzels and beer!

Cotton candy and cookies and beer!

We checked out the "midway" with rides and games.

At 9 the first band started to play and the crowd was growing.

In some of the restaurant tents there was individual entertainment.

Everyone was having a good time, but by 10 we were tired and decided to call it a day.  From the sounds we could hear at our apartment the party went on until the wee hours of the morning.
