Morning at the Market and later Drinks with Friends

The two priority items on my to do list were the Danube River Boat Cruise (check) and a trip to the Central Market.  We checked off the second this morning.  This was quite a market--three stories.  It's a very impressive building with mosaic tiles on the roof.

The first level was food.  There were  meats, fruits, vegetables, chocolate, wines, oh yes and did I mention paprika--lots of paprika!

The second and third floors are dedicated to clothes, toys, Christmas items, tablecloths and more.

We had a great time looking around, but it was so hot, we almost melted!
We opted for lunch instead of more  shopping/looking--I know that's hard to believe.  We found the "Spoon" just along the river--very nice lunch place with typical Hungarian dishes.

It is a cruise boat converted into a permanent restaurant on the river.  It has fabulous views.

Just as we finished our lunch, it started to rain/pour and no rain gear.

There was only a 10% chance and not a cloud in the sky this morning, how quickly things change.  We made it back to the apartment but we were drenched.

Our friend at home, Bj said their daughter, Shannon and family and in-laws were in Budapest.  So we decided to make contact to see if we could get together.  Shannon suggested we meet at the 360 Bar.  On our way we walked by the Budapest Opera House, both coming and going, an amazing structure.

A few more steps and we found the 360 Bar.

It was up on the 6th floor (roof) of an office building with a commanding view of the city.

Shannon and crew arrived shortly and we met her in-laws, Paige and Don and greeted her husband, Casey and daughters Megan and Katey.  So good to see faces from home!  We got a table and ordered some wine, beer, lemonade and a Pepsi!

We had a wonderful time visiting about each of our trips and up coming travels.
They are such a wonderful family and we treasured our time with them.

We said our good-byes and headed back to the apartment, stopping for a gelato.
