Finally! The Eiffel Tower

This morning we set out for a shopping area suggested by a Pocket Guide to Paris featured in USA Today.  We found Reciproque--six boutiques (resale shops, or as they say vintage items) located on Rue de la Pompe.  It was fun to look, but at €450 for a Chanel blouse, still a bit pricey.  So we moved on.
Obviously we were in a very upscale area of Paris.  It was such a beautiful day we decided to walk to the Trocadero.  Exquisite apartments were all along the beautiful tree lined Avenue Henri Martin.  They were as fun to look at as the pricey Chanels.  Tom says maybe this area next time-lol.

Moving on, we arrived at a memorial to fallen WWI soldiers just on the edge of the Trocadero.

The Jardins du Trocadero are the gardens of the old Palais du Trocadero.  They are now a public park with a spectacular fountain system and beautiful green areas.

The fountains are going all the time but in addition at night they are part of a spectacular colored light show together with a series of water canons positioned at the top of the fountains.

There is also fabulous two story carousel.

All this in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower just across the Seine. We've been in Paris for a week and this is the first time we've seen it.  You don't even feel like you're in Paris until you've seen the Eiffel Tower.

The city is getting ready for "Euro 2016", the European Super Bowl.

A gigantic soccer ball is suspended in the Eiffel Tower.

Time for a late lunch--seems like we are always eating.  Tom found a real American hot dog, I opted for ice cream.

Today it's actually hot.  Finding a Metro, we headed home to put our feet up and rest.
