Change of Plans

As I mentioned earlier, today is the 4th of July.  We thought we should really do something to commemorate  the occasion.  Michele sent us a list of 4th of July activities.  We culled through the list, but for most reservations were needed in advance.  We chose the activities at the American Church of Paris where everyone was welcome to celebrate.  On the bus and off to find the church.  We walked and walked and never found any sign of the church.  As it turned out we were looking in the wrong place.

On our trek, we spotted a huge Ferris wheel and decided to change gears and seek it out.  It happened to be on the edge of the beautiful Tullerie Gardens.  Tom got our tickets and we got on the Ferris Wheel.

What a ride!  We could see the whole city of Paris from the wheel. We saw the Eiffel Tower of course, the d'Orsay, the Louvre and Sacre Coeur in the Montmartre area.

I took a picture of Tom with the Eiffel Tower in the background, and then we spotted the Midway!
As soon as we got off the Ferris Wheel, we headed for the Midway--just like the State Fair of Texas.

Lots of games and food.  The candy stands were so colorful and the food stands smelled delicious.  There were lots of games and rides and lots of people playing and having fun.

I made a friend!

We each got an ice cream cone and walked over to the Tulleries to watch the kids in the park.  You could rent a little sailboat, 2€ for twenty minutes.  You also got a stick to push the boats around the fountain.

  1. Sometimes when you set out to do something, something else turns out to be a lot more fun.  We had a great time.  Happy Birthday USA!
