A Beautiful Day in Sorrento

About eight years ago we were in Sorrento with our friends from Dallas.  It was such a wonderful place.  I'm so glad we had the opportunity to go back today and spend a little time there again.
It was an easy drive through the mountains until we got to the three plus mile tunnel just a short distance from Sorrento.

The traffic was backed up into the tunnel for a long way.

There are few roads on the Amalfi coast because the mountains go right down to the sea. The ones there are, are narrow and crowded and there is a severe parking problem.
Finally, daylight and we were on our way again.

Rick Steves, travel guide, recommended a parking lot, we put it in our GPS and it worked out perfectly.
We set out walking to find the hotel where we stayed before, La Tonnarella.  We thought it might be nice to have lunch there, for old times sake.
We passed some familiar sights on the way.

The Bay of Naples with Vesuvius in the background is always stunning.

We looked down the long steep stairway leading to the marina that we walked to several times before.

The sun worshipers were out in mass.  It was a very sunny day and every inch of the beach was filled up.

We found La Tonnarella, but were a little disappointed in the restaurant, so we changed our mind about having lunch there.

The views were still incredible and brought back good memories of good times with good friends.  It was great to see Mount Vesuvius, Naples and the Bay of Naples again.

We went back to a place we had seen on our walk and tried that one.  We sat outside by the grill and the pool associated with the hotel.

Nice lunch, and we're off to shop!  Sorrento is made for shopping.

We sampled some limoncello and lemon candy, both delicious.

The Italian pottery is just beautiful, we never get tired of looking at all the pieces.

We had a great day in Sorrento, maybe we'll get to come back again sometime.
