There are two islands in the middle of the Seine River. The larger island, Ile de la Cite, is where the city of Paris began. The smaller island is Ile St.-Louis. We crossed the river on Pont Neuf onto Ile de la Cite. The first thing we saw was Square du Vert-Galant, the riverfront park on the west end of the island. We wanted to see Sainte-Chapelle, but the lines were so long, we decided to save it and La Conciergerie for another day. We took a quick picture of the Palais de Justice and moved on to Notre-Dame.
