DISCOVERING THE AREA
We are refreshed and ready for a day in Oslo! After eleven hours of sleep, we should be.
We ventured out this morning to see what's in our area. We are in what appears to be a revitalized area along the waterfront called "Tjuvholmen". A busling community of office buildings, apartments, shops of all types and too many restaurants to count.
Right outside our apartment is the waterway and a magnificent marina filled with beautiful boats and today a cruise ship.
We strolled along the waterfront on a walkway called the "Stranden". There were a lot of people out enjoying the scenery, the perfect weather and filling the many restaurants at lunchtime.
I caught Tom admiring the Racehorse and Rider scupture along the Stranden.
We continued our stroll along the waterfront passed the new National Museum and then past the Nobel Peace Center.
Oslo is a city of art. Everywhere we walked we saw art. Some beautiful, some interesting and some strange.
Tomorrow morning (Thursday) we go on our Fjord tour. We leave from the main train station at 8:25am and end up late tomorrow night in Bergen. We spend the night there and come straight back on the train Friday morning. We will get back about 3:30. The trip is supposed to be spectacular and we should have some nice pictures for you when we get back.
