CERAMICS, A GROTTO, PRIANO AND GROCERIES

For me ceramics are a must do. I'm a potter and love to look at beautiful pottery. The Italians rank up there with some of the very best! The designs are perfect and the colors are brillant. There is a combination of decorative and utilitarian. And all are perfect.
We made time to see the Emerald Gotto near us in Furore. In Italian it is known as the Groto dello Smeraldo. There is always a line but the wait is worth it.
Twenty to a boat and the brief tour began. Roberto, our guide was intertaining and informative. The Grotto was discovered by a local fisherman named Luigi Buonocore looking for a place to wait out a storm in 1932. What a find!
The grotto gets it's Emerald name from the incredible nuances of green that fill the cave from an underground opening. There are a number of massive stalactites and stalacmites in the grotto.
The grotto is home to an underwater Nativity scene made of ceramic thirty-three feet below the surface.
We're off for lunch and sightseeing at the marina in Priano. It's beautiful with swimming and sunbathing areas.
There are several nice restaurants at the marina with beautiful views but we were between the lunch and dinner hour so finding a place that was serving food proved difficult. We persevered and were successful in finding a place where eight people could have a bite of late lunch. Priano is a must see place! We had to make another stop at the grocery store and the rain began to pour and pour! Three shopped while four waited in the car or drove around because there is never a place to park. Groceries purchase, we headed back to our casa. Again, Marissol prepared a delightful light supper for us. And it's off to bed after another great day in Italy.
