From airport pick up to airport return, the week went fast, but it was packed with fun. We so enjoyed having our friends, Kay from Dallas and Susan from Richmond here with us for the week.
There were meals on the terrace over looking the water, while watching the bees buzz about. Checking out the Italian pottery was always fun.
Tom, the driver learned to take all the switch backs with ease, even when coming face to face with another car or even a bus.
The reason people come to this region is for the views, culture and the magic of the hillside villages and we got it all! Even though Amalfi is bustling with people at every turn that's part of the charm.
We are always captivated by the lemons, plus all the abundance of beautiful produce--zucchini, eggplant, onions, potatoes and oh, those tomatoes! One evening, Susan mentioned how much she liked figs and moments later our neighbor appeared with a plate of fresh picked figs!
The place is truly magic!
Capri gave us views and vistas beyond compare. Looking down from the top you might feel like you're on the top of the world.
Another favorite thing was sitting on our terrace watching all the sailing vessels pass by leaving their plumb of white wake in the clear blue water. We would count the number and marvel at all the different types of boats going by.
Also sitting on the terrace we loved hearing all the sounds around us. There were church bells from several directions, even a rooster, chickens and our favorite the donkey, braying. Even hearing our neighbor's discussing their day, in Itatian, of course, added to the ambiance of the area.
Sunday evening Tom grilled steaks and we enjoyed fresh green beans and potatoes along with our customary fantastic tomatoes for the "good-bye" meal.
From the Tuesday afternoon pick up to the Monday morning return it was a grand week and we were so happy to have had our friends here to share it with us!
