Today was a rather lazy day, more rain so we got a late start. Tom was on the hunt for a street market, because he knows how much I like to stroll through them. He found a Friday market and we're off to the Metro. Thirty minutes later and we're there, but they are shutting down for the day. Oh well, there's always tomorrow. We walked back along the Seine to check on the water level. The water continues to rise. The first picture shows the Seine on a normal day and then some pictures of it today.
It's higher today than yesterday, for sure.
They closed the Louvre today to remove all the art pieces from the basement. The same for the d'Orsay. A small number of the metro stations have been closed because of water in the tunnels.
We passed a few classic land marks on the way back--Notre Dame and The Hotel DeVille, which is not a hotel at all but the city of Paris government offices including those of the mayor.
The flooding is the top story on the news here. Thousands of people were out to check on the rising water.
We treated ourselves to a Berthillon ice cream cone--best in Paris.
The mist is falling, so back to the Metro in case it gets heavier.
