The Best of Barcelona

Our friends George and Bj have been here and we've been having a glorious time.  We've done a lot of things together. We explored Los Alcazares, shopped the street markets and had some fabulous lunches and dinners.  On Wednesday morning we drove to Barcelona. It was a beautiful six hour drive up the Mediterranean coast.  We checked into our hotel on the Ramblas.  It was bustling with people the whole time we were there.

Tom and I are big on the hop on hop off bus.  You can see so much of the city, so that was the order of the day on Wednesday afternoon..  We enjoyed our two route bus tour (the blue route and the red route) back to back.

Barcelona is a beautiful clean city with lots of history and interesting sights.

Pizza was dinner right next to the hotel as we were beat.  It was really good and we didn't have far to go to get back to the hotel.
On Thursday  morning we headed for Mount Tibidabo.  We rode the funicular up to the top of the mountain where the  Bacilica is located .

The views of the city were  spectacular.

We toured the breathtaking Bacilica inside and out.

We had a quick lunch and took off for Guille Park to see all things Gaudi.  Barcelona is all about Gaudi.    I am so intrigued by the style of Antoni Gaudi--it's so different and whimsical.  We checked out all the wonderful mosaics and buildings and benches--all fabulous.

Our time was limited because we had to head back to Los Alcarezres, after a grand time in Barcelona.
