Back to Cartegena

Friday, August 30th

On Friday morning we had a quick breakfast in the apartment with freshly squeezed OJ (that Tom did every morning).  After all, we are close to Valencia and in the heart of orange country.  Bj and I are on a mission for the street market.  This one was in El Algar and unfortunately not the best.  We had some rain and we thought it might have scared some of the vendors off.  But that's ok, we're all going to Cartegena.  It's a beautiful seaport town that Tom and I had visited before.  Tom thought George might enjoy seeing the Roman ruins.  The guys toured the ruins, while Bj and I added to the economy of Cartegena.  We regrouped for lunch by the sea on the patio of a beautiful restaurant overlooking the port.
Back to Los Alcazares with a detour to show George and Bj the mud people, so they could see what it was all about.  We watched the people dig the mud, apply it all over their bodies and then dry in the sun.  After drying, they washed off the black mud and their skin was glowing!
Then back to the apartment for a little rest before dinner at Rosalind's on the upper level of the plaza. It's such a great view of all that's going on below.  The families walking about, the vendors hawking their wares and the non-licensed vendors scurrying into the allies away from the police.  George and Bj treated us to a delicious dinner.  Bj's took the prize.  She ordered a shrimp and fruit salad.  Wow! It was a feast for the eyes.

Back to the apartment to pack and for a good night's sleep for our trip to Granada first thing in the morning.
