We are settling in nicely into our little Spanish villa. The weather is very warm with cool, pleasant evenings. But it should be warm, after all it's August. The resort has lovely, well kept grounds with a nice pool. Our apartment is a two bedroom, two bath with a living room kitchen combination. We have a table and chairs on our front patio, that faces a park. Good place to sit in the evening with a glass of wine and watch the people scurrying off the dinner.
It faces the Mediterranean but we can't see it. We have to walk a short distance through the park to get to the beach.
The back door leads to the common area and pools (kid's and adult's).
On Friday we treated ourselves to lunch at a fun place on the beach.
We were wowed by the sand sculptures done by a local couple and the promenade makes for a lovely walk.
Across the street there is a huge complex for shopping, eating and making good use of someone's wi-fi. We had dinner there at a lovely roof-top restaurant overlooking the plaza.
Los Alcazares is a beautiful town that sits on a bay called Mar Menor. The bay is very calm because it is protected by an 18 kilometer (11 mile) long reef called La Manga. You can see the reef across the bay.
We explored the La Manga area yesterday. It's a peninsula filled with high-rise apartments, condos and hotels inhabited by millions of tourists. The umbrells on the beach bump up against each other. La Manga benefits from both the bay and the sea, so choose your water preference--calm or waves.
We had lunch at the Hotel Galua on La Manga. We indulged in a huge buffet and a little sangria.
Such a nice day.
