Today we are planning for our day trip to Madrid for tomorrow--that will be exciting to write about.
Yesterday, we went back to La Manga looking for a delicious on the water seafood lunch and rumor had it that there's a street market. We found both! The street market in the town of Cabo de Palos on La Manga is the biggest. We roamed the stalls and saw most everything you can imagine. All that looking made us hungry so we went in search of that sea food lunch.
Restaurante Miramar was calling us. There was a perfect view of the Mediterranean.
Off the shore just out from the lighthouse are rocky outcroppings which became the tomb for hundreds of ships that tried in vain to go around Palos. This area is considered one of the best scuba diving places in Spain. We could see the divers taking off for their excursions as we waited for our lunch.
We finished our lunch and walked along the marina checking out all the fishing boats.
The afternoon was heating up so its back to the AC comfort of the apartment.
This morning we interrupted our walk to stop and have breakfast at the oldest hotel in Los Alcazares. The Encarnacion Hotel was built in 1904 on top of old Roman ruins dating back to 209AD. It features soaking tubs (they call Roman baths). Guests can take a long leisurely bath in the waters of the sea--very therapeutic. The interior courtyard is a mass of plants and tropicals--very picturesque.
As we walk toward the old part of town, we see a baker who is tempting us with bread just coming out of the oven!
Walking on, we encounter the street market of Los Alcazares. Tom buys oranges, we'll have fresh squeezed juice for breakfast. Back home, time to think about lunch!
