A “Car Hike” Through the Grand Tetons

How many times can you say “magnificent” about the Grand Tetons?  This mountain range is grand and magnificent!

After another hardy breakfast we set out for The Grand Teton National Park. The entrance is about thirty miles from our condo.

After entering the park we planned to drive the road which encircled the interior stopping to see points of interest along the route.  As we drove along the Tetons got closer and closer and the pictures got more spectacular.

As we drove on we got them from a different angle.

Ever since we got to this area, we have been warned about wild animals—beware of the bears, elk crossing, deer crossing and moose in the next 5 miles.

We want to see some of these wild animals!

As we were approaching a grassy area, I did spot something in the shallow marsh just along the road.  It’s a moose!  Sadly, he disappeared before I could snap a photo.  So, we’re still looking for one that will pose!

Every vista is a picture post card.

The snow on the mountain tops and in the crevices add to the overall beauty.

Jenny Lake was a very popular stop along the path.  There were so many people and very few stopping places, but we were able  to find a nice spot for a photo or two.

The biggest lake in the park is Lake Jackson.  It was a nice place to eat the picnic lunch we brought with us.

We knew it was a good place because a family from Houston had the same idea.

As we drove across the dam for Lake Jackson we got a good look at the Snake River below.

Tomorrow we will take an evening raft trip down the Snake River and hope to see some animals as the sun goes down.

Until then, other than the elusive moose and a few deer, it seems the only animals we’ve seen are cast iron!

Maybe tomorrow the real thing.
